Preparing for Our Visit to Monrovia

This October, we'll be heading to Liberia to visit the Rilo Foundation Education School – the junior high school we’ve been supporting for the past five years.

The School was born out of the vision of Morris – a former child soldier who turned his life around to become a respected community leader. What started as an after-school programme he ran from his home has, with years of collaboration and support, grown into a junior high school offering free education to over 400 children in Monrovia. With a dedicated team of teachers, it’s a place where resilience meets opportunity – and it runs on pure purpose and the generosity of others. You can read more about how it all started here.

This will be a moment to check in, reconnect, and move things forward. We’ll be meeting with the teachers, local coordinators, and ministry officials, diving into everything from lesson plans to logistics, and identifying the next steps to improve day-to-day operations. Every conversation helps us build a better, stronger school.

But there’s something new this time, too – and that’s where you come in.

In preparation for the trip, we’re also collecting materials to bring along. The school is in real need of:

• Sports gear – Footballs, cones, pumps, and anything that encourages movement and fun.

• School supplies – Exercise books, pens, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, rulers, and learning games.

• Books – Especially junior fiction and educational books suitable for ages 10–16.
